Best Ways to Print Photos for Scrapbooks

If you’re anything like me, you probably have thousands of photos sitting on your phone right now.

That’s honestly one of the reasons I fell in love with scrapbooking in the first place. It gives those memories a home. Instead of letting your favorite moments disappear into your camera roll, you get to turn them into something tangible and meaningful that you can hold onto forever.

But because these photos capture your most important moments, the way you print them really does matter... especially if you want them to last a lifetime.

Why Print Quality Matters

A little history lesson…

Traditional film photography used a chemical darkroom process that created incredibly long-lasting prints. Many old film photos from decades ago still look beautiful today because the image was embedded directly into the photo paper during processing.

Most modern photo printing, especially inexpensive bulk printing, uses ink-based printing instead. While it’s convenient and affordable, ink can fade over time, especially if photos are exposed to sunlight, moisture, oils from fingerprints, or acidic materials.

That’s also one of the reasons I designed Faye page protectors to be archival safe. If you’re taking the time to document your memories, you deserve products that help preserve them beautifully.

My Favorite Ways to Print Photos

Persnickety Box — My Personal Favorite

This is hands-down my favorite option.

I use their monthly subscription, which sends me 30 4×4” prints every month. It’s honestly one of the best ways I’ve found to stay consistent with memory keeping because it turns photo printing into a habit instead of a huge project.

Their printing process is much more similar to traditional film printing and darkroom photo development, which means the quality is incredible. The photos are durable, rich in color, and resistant to fingerprints, spills, and everyday wear.

The 4×4” size is also perfect for the Faye albums.

You can use code kaylenfaye in the app for 50% off your first order on Apple or Android.

Persnickety Prints — Best for Specialty Printing

If you want more flexibility with sizes, collage prints, borders, or specialty options, Persnickety Prints is another amazing choice.

The quality is excellent and the colors always turn out beautifully. It is definitely more of a premium option, but for special projects or important albums, I think it’s absolutely worth it.

Walmart Photo — Best for Affordable Bulk Printing

For bulk printing, I usually use Walmart Photo.

It’s one of the most affordable ways to print a large number of 4×6” matte photos quickly, especially with their one-hour pickup option.

Because these are ink-printed photos, they may fade a bit over time compared to traditional photo processing. But honestly, the colors still look great in scrapbooks, and it’s a super practical option if you want to print a lot of photos. The Faye archival-safe page protectors will help protect your images in the scrapbook.

My Favorite At-Home Photo Printers

Canon SELPHY CP1500

If you want to print photos at home, the Canon Selphy printers are my favorite for quality and color accuracy.

The prints look much more like real photo lab prints than standard inkjet prints, and they’re perfect for journaling, scrapbooking, and quick memory keeping projects.

Kodak Dock Plus

I also use the Kodak Dock Plus and really like it.

The photos tend to print a little more vibrant and saturated compared to some other printers, but it’s super easy to use and great for casual printing at home.

My Favorite Sticker Printer

Liene PixCut S1

For stickers and scrapbook embellishments, I’ve been loving the Liene PixCut S1.

It prints and cuts custom sticker designs, which makes creating personalized scrapbook pages so fun.

Some people mention that the stickers aren’t extremely sticky, but honestly, that’s easy to work around. You can always tape or glue them down, and if you’re using Faye albums, the clear page protectors help hold everything in place.
